Black dragonfish

Black dragonfish are predators that live deep in the oceans and they live in the oceanic biosphere. If Brookfield zoo were to get this fish, they'd need a gigantic aquarium. Thy can be found in the oceans on this world map (above).Black dragonfish are carnivores creatures. Unlike herbivores and omnivores, they only eat meat.I would say that they are coming very close to ecological succesion, as they are the predators of many deep sea fish, and not the prey of so many fish. Female Black dragonfish mainly prey on lanternfish, small fish with the ability to produce light because of special organs. Sometimes a Black dragonfish will go as deep as 2,000 feet in the ocean. Imagine a scavenger hunt after prey so intense that a Black dragonfish would have to go that deep! They use their long fangs to catch their food, and they have competiton as Black dragonfish are not the only fish who wants to eat a plump lanternfish. Males have no teeth, and they don't feed after larval transformation so they only live for a few weeks. Even though Black dragonfish seem so tough, they do have some limiting factors.
